Get Rich Quick in 5 Easy Steps! Side Hustles to Get Big Bucks! Earn Money Taking Surveys!

We have all seen these articles. We may have even clicked on them too. How many of them actually lead to us ‘Getting Rich Quick’?  How many side hustles can one person reasonably do while working a real job, going to school, raising a family, living your life? Has anyone actually made any real money taking surveys?  I haven’t.

The truth is there is no ‘Get Rich Quick’ method (maybe winning the lottery, but really what are the odds?)  Growing your wealth takes time and work. I may have just lost a few readers here looking for the easy way out. Don’t worry there are a bunch of other articles online – some may work, but please let me know how that new incredible ‘Get Skinny Fast’ diet works out too!

For anyone who is still here reading … there are many schemes online for quick money and lose weight fast diets. Many of them have some valid options. Many are simply click-bait. I personally have read many of these articles. I am obsessed with saving money. Nothing beats free money! I can tell you a few things I have learned along the way. One of the most important things you need to know is that Debt is Bad. I mean, obviously. The question is how to pay it off and more importantly, how to avoid it.

Know Your Credit

I mentioned in another article a favorite site of mine, Credit Karma.  This is a FREE site that will help you monitor your credit as well as offer tips and tidbits on how to control your credit.  Improving your credit (or acquiring it) is a huge step in growing your wealth. Great credit will get you lower interest rates on your credit cards and better rates on mortgages and car loans too! The less interest you have to pay the lower your debt becomes.

Spend Less

This sounds like a no-brainer, but I am constantly surprised how many people continually pay for things they do not need or pay too much for things they can get cheaper. One thing you can do right off the bat, is look at your current bills. Many times you are paying for services you do not use. I have often called and asked for lower rates. If you are a valued longtime customer, they will often help. Sometimes you get a cranky one who does not want to do anything. Hang up and call back. I have done this! Then I get a different rep who is (hopefully) in a better mood and I simply ask if there is anything I can do to lower my bill. Once my cable company took off long-distance calling and international channels – just because I asked! It lowered my bill $20 a month! Better yet, join the growing movement and cut the cord! With services like Netflix, Hulu, Sling Tv the options are there, as well as the savings!

Take a good look at your auto insurance and cell phone companies. Are you really getting the best deal? Many insurances offer low rates to start. After 6 months, they arbitrarily raise your rates. Before long that cheap plan is costing you more than the higher plan did to start! Your goal as a longtime customer is to get MORE for your money, not less. Shop around! Yes, this takes time. However, if you put in the effort, you can see small savings start to add up!

Pay Down Debt

This is the tricky one. Especially if you are living paycheck to paycheck. This is where the urge to shop around those click-bait sites and see if just maybe one of those get rich quick plans will work. Feel free to spend your time trying … OR actually, pay down your debt. One thing that can definitely help, is balance transfers. If you have good credit, many cards offer zero to low-interest balance transfers. This will help you pay down debt without accruing extra interest. Consolidating this debt will by far save you money in the long run.

That extra little bit of money you are now saving needs to go directly to your debt. You just saved money on your monthly expenses, you may feel tempted to go and treat yourself. Treat yourself with less debt! Put that savings towards what you owe. The sooner you pay it down, the more money you will have!

Remember, there is no get rich quick method. It takes time and effort. This blog barely covers the basics, but keep checking back for more tips and tidbits on how to reach your financial goals. I will keep writing and sharing, as you long you keep reading!
